IN-SEASON TEST: HUNGARY – DAY ONE

Location: Hungary

Session: In Season Test (Day One)

Following the Hungarian Grand Prix, we’ve now entered the summer-break however – work is still ongoing for teams as they’re taking part of the in-season testing and on The Formula 1 Girl, you’ll be able to see a roundup from all the latest, including driver interviews.

MERCEDES – IN SEASON TEST: HUNGARY – DAY ONE

GEORGE RUSSELL

George Russell: “It’s been fantastic to get back behind the wheel of the Mercedes Formula One car. The speed, power and downforce are just completely on another level, so as soon as I jumped in this morning I had a massive smile on my face.”

“Unfortunately, we didn’t quite do as many laps as anticipated owing to some rain this afternoon and a couple of small issues this morning.”

“Nevertheless, it’s been a really good day for me and I think the team learned some things, which is important. Now I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

FERRARI – IN SEASON TEST: HUNGARY – DAY ONE

ANTONIO GIOVINAZZI

Antonio Giovinazzi: “It was a tiring day, we did a lot of laps, but I really enjoyed it. Apart from yesterday, driving the Alfa Sauber, I hadn’t driven in an official test session since last year in Abu Dhabi.”

“We had an interesting programme to work on, with various things to test and different tyre compounds to try. The test was productive and delivered a really big amount of data to correlate with that from the simulator.”

“To be at the wheel of a Ferrari is always a privilege and it was a fantastic feeling.”

RED BULL RACING – IN SEASON TEST: HUNGARY – DAY ONE

DANIEL RICCIARDO

Daniel Ricciardo: “We did some good work today. There was a lot of long run stuff, a lot of data gathering, and we got through some set-up changes as well, so it was a pretty good day for the team.”

“We ran with a lot of rakes and aero parts, so I know we tried a few things, but honestly I’m not too sure of the detail. I do know we used some 2019 Pirelli test tyres and that did feel quite different, so we’ll see what comes of that.”

“It was a pretty busy day and we got a lot of laps under our belt, so I don’t feel too bad about saying that’s me done for the moment – now it’s holiday time!”

SAUBER – IN SEASON TEST: HUNGARY – DAY ONE

MARCUS ERICSSON

Marcus Ericsson: “It was a productive day of testing. We almost completed the planned programme, with a short interruption caused by the rain that came suddenly.”

“Thankfully, we managed to conclude the main part before the change in weather, so it didn’t affect us too much. We obtained some interesting results, and tried different set-up options for the second half of the season. Now we have to analyse the results and learn from them.”

“It was a positive way to end the first part of the season. Now it is time to have a small break, and to recharge our batteries for the upcoming set of races.”

“Give it a week and I will not be able to wait until I get back in the car, though. It will be great to come back and drive on one of the best tracks of the season in Spa-Francorchamps.”
