Taking Care of Your Pride And Joy

Collaborative post for The Formula 1 Girl

Car ownership is one of those things that many of us are lucky to have in our lives.

A vehicle that can take us from one place to another. However, while it may be your pride and joy, it is also a depreciating asset, and no matter whether you have a Ford Fiesta or something from McLaren, the value will go down the longer you have it.

There are things which you can do things to ensure that you keep the value as high as possible and that involves taking care of your asset and here, we wanted to share with you how you can take better care of your pride and joy.

Keeping it Clean Regularly

When it comes to taking care of your vehicle, there is no finer way of doing it than keeping it clean regularly.

This allows you to ensure that you protect the paintwork and keep the polish and colour looking amazing at all times. You may be wondering what is the best way to do that and often, a quick search online will highlight the best power washer for the job.

Combining this with your chosen car shampoo, polish and/or wax will mean that you keep your vehicle always looking in tip top condition.

Making sure it has regular maintenance checks

One of the next things to consider would be to have regular maintenance checks on your vehicle to make sure that you can keep things on track.

The regular checks and service inspections make sure that your vehicle keeps up to date with issues and also can highlight any wear and tear items that could be causing issues or noticing something easy which could fail and cause your problems in the future.

It is definitely worth keeping up with it as a full history of these checks can be really worthwhile when it comes to obtaining a valuation on your vehicle if or when you decide to change it.

Keeping up with any warranty work

The next thing to think about would be to keep up with any warranty work on the vehicle.

A warranty is normally given on brand new cars for an average of three years from the car dealership – covering some major parts which can be costly if they weren’t covered under warranty.

Used cars can also come with warranty depending on the used car dealership so make sure you ask around. Making sure things get repaired and replaced under warranty keeps the cost down but it also ensure you use genuine parts for your vehicle.

As mentioned, used cars can come with warranty which is supplied by the used-car dealership and in a lot of cases, when it finished – you can extend the warranty so it’s always good to ask.

Repairing any damage before things get too bad

Finally, it is always worthwhile repairing any damage to the bodywork as soon as you notice it.

You may do your best to ensure that you keep your vehicle free from dents and scratches however, we all know that you can’t control how others behave.

The chances are at some point you are going to deal with someone denting your car door because they have parked too close to you for example.

Reaping this sooner rather than later avoid rust or further damage to the paintwork.

It’s easy to take care of your pride and joy – a little god a long way so if you look after your car and maintain it well, it should  be ok for many many years.
