Martin Whitmarsh To Return To Formula 1?
Yes – but in a temporary role.
It seems that after a four-year absence from the sport, the former Formula 1 McLaren team boss will be returning the sport in a temporary role – consulting the FIA on cost-control measures.
Prior to his departure from F1, Martin Whitmarsh was a key figure – leading the way when it came to cost-control and now with the new owners, Liberty Media, they’re keen to find a way to limit the costs for teams.
Liberty Media believe that with a limit in costs for the teams – it’s a way of closing up the competition in the sport – working on things since 2017, talking about a cost cap and also working with Ross Brawn who has been working with the FIA.
Martin Whitmarsh left the sport in 2014 following the return of Ron Dennis who took full control of the team McLaren F1 team again.
