Formula1 and Movistar+ Extend Partnership Until 2020
Movistar+ and Formula1 have extended their partnership for another 3 years with the Spanish broadcaster (Movistar+) having the exclusive rights to cover all the Formula1 Grand Prix races from 2018 up until 2020.
The new agreement will include the coverage of Friday Practice, Saturday Practice, Qualifying and of course – the races. In a similar style to how Sky Sports Formula 1 has the rights in the UK – with a dedicated channel providing fans with exclusive content.
Ian Holmes – the Director of Media Rights, Formula 1 said – “Spain is one of the most important European markets for Formula 1 and thanks to this partnership – the Spanish fans will be able to continue to enjoy the spectacle provided by the pinnacle of motorsport 24/7 with a dedicated channel, Movistar F1.“
“We will be able to help Movistar+ to produce exclusive content for it’s distribution across their digital and social media platforms which will contribute to broaden the fan base and it’s engagement.”
There were rumours about Spain losing it’s interest in the sport however, it now seems that things are on the up with the new agreement.
This will now be the fifth consecutive year in which Formula1 will be fully broadcast in Spain by Movistar F1 – with their dedicated channel.
