Formula 1 and Sky Italia Renew Broadcast Partnership Until 2020
It seems to be the year of renewals and following the extension between Formula1 and Movistar+ – it’s also been announced that for the next three years, Sky Italia will hold the exclusive broadcasting rights for Italian territory.
Taking the partnership through to 2020, the agreement will include coverage of free practice sessions on Friday, Qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday – all shown on the Sky Sport F1 HD Channel which is dedicated to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
Ian Holmes, the director of Media Rights for Formula 1 said – “Italy is one of the most important countries in history of Formula 1, where the passion for our sport is part of the DNA of many people. It’s very important to have reached this agreement which will ensure that all races will be broadcast live.“

Sky Italia has shown a great commitment to the sport and will offer the Italian fans a deeper and broader experience than ever before – more hours, more quality and analysis of Sky’s channels and platforms.”
The agreement mentions that at least four of this seasons’ 21 Grand Prix races (including the Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken d’Italia 2018) will be broadcast live and free-to-air on the TV8 Channel.
Ian Holmes Continued – “Formula 1 is the second sport in Italy in terms of following, deeply rooted in the passion of the Italian sports fans and perfectly fits in our motor sport offers, which is he second pillar of Sky Sport portfolio. We are confident that F1 will confirm itself as a mass high-rating event throughout the seasons to come.“
The latest partnership extension for Formula 1 has now been added to the deals which were sealed throughout the 2017 Formula 1 season – amongst them, Australia, France, Germany and United States.
