Kimi Raikkonen Signs Extension With Ferrari For 2018
The summer break is when most deals are done in the world of Formula 1 and Ferrari have now announced that Kimi Raikkonen (known as the ‘Iceman‘) will be staying with the team for the next Formula 1 season – by signing an extension to his current contract.
The extension means that Raikkonen will be racing for Ferrari until the end of the 2018 Formula 1 season, putting a quiet end to all the commentators who had questioned whether or not Kimi Raikkonen would be staying with the team, even within the sport.
The 2018 Formula 1 season will be Kimi Raikkonen’s 5th consecutive season with Ferrari and even though they’ve had their fair share of up’s and down’s, it seems the team have got everything together and have found the perfect balance between the team, the car and their drivers.
Kimi had previously raced for the team, winning the world title.
Nothing has yet been confirmed with Sebastian Vettel however it seems certain that he will be staying at Ferrari – especially now with the announcement of Raikkonen, their progress, how their car has been performing and the fact he’s now leading the drivers’ championship and battling with the Silver Arrows (Mercedes).
It seems Ferrari have found the perfect balance with their drivers however now that Raikkonen has been confirmed for another year – will his approach to racing change?
